Mitchell’s Café was created in 1996 in this same location we’re in today in what was the 1st official RCMP barracks in Fort McMurray. The First owners were ex RCMP officers had a son named “Mitchell” hence the name Mitchell’s was born. Since than the Café has worn many hats. It’s housed a Picture Framing shop, a Gift shop, a Fine Dining Restaurant, a Butcher Counter, more seats, less seats, and more seats again, but always had three things: Great Food. Great Coffee. Great Service. Today, Mitchell’s is family owned and, along with our hard working crew, local minded relationships and a fresh face lift we are excited about the future for our historic café.
When you come in to our shop you’ll see our Nuova Simonelli Aurelia II Espresso Machine; the crown jewel for our espresso based drinks. We are always serving up weekly fresh roasted beans from Discovery Coffee in Victoria B.C. We also bring in lots of different roasters from around B.C. and Alberta. Want to take some beans home with you? We got it and we’ll grind ‘em for you if you need.
We offer Homemade Baked goods from muffins and scones to Patisserie items like croissants and eclairs’ all baked fresh in store.
Now to what we are famous for . . . we have always made all our delicious sandwiches on our famous homemade Sunshine bread! Our meats are roasted locally at “The Meat Shoppe” located in Thickwood or in house (except the Quattro – we leave that to the Italians). Not to forget our awesome salad options, our soup offering change every day and we always mix it up! From our classic cream of tomato basil to the pork belly pho, gluten free & vegan to carnivore we should be able to feed you. Our helpful staff are on hand to guide you thru our sandwiches or look on the menu and get an idea of what we have.
